Tony Bianco Artwork
Welcome, and thank you for visiting my website. As you explore, you’ll notice much of the subject matter is inspired by the Calumet Region of Northwest Indiana. I strive to combine interesting compositions with subjects that might capture the viewer’s attention, whether focusing on the area’s industry, urban roots, natural beauty, or the diversity among them. My work begins with an emphasis on tonal values—the interplay of darks and lights. My color palette is often muted, with color sometimes added only in the later stages of a piece. I primarily work in water-based media, including acrylics, watercolors, and egg tempera. Over the years, I’ve admired many artists—Andrew Wyeth in particular—along with Edward Hopper, Alejandro Quincoces, George Bellows, and countless others. The Ash Can artists of New York have also been a major influence; one described their approach as “journalism with a brush,” a sentiment I embrace when capturing the ever-changing urban and industrial landscapes. I hope you enjoy browsing my work, and I invite you to sign up for my email list at the bottom of the page for updates on new paintings, blog posts, and other projects. Feel free to reach out with any questions or comments.
